Struggling to decide whether you need a new WordPress website?
Why create this check list?
So many business women come to me saying that they've been told that they need a new website that will cost squillions of dollars rather than change their existing WordPress website. It's not that I'm against someone paying me squillions of dollars, however I do believe that deciding to have a new website is a business decision and not a because someone told you so decision.
It's not a simple yes or no answer
A lot of web designers will simply tell you that you need a new WordPress website. That may be true. However, it may also be that it's the only service they offer and they don't want to lose you as a client.
It's not the only service I offer so I can be more objective. I tend to think like a small business owner first and a WordPress Fairy Godmother second.
Can WordPress Websites be Tweaked?
One of the wonderful things about WordPress is that it can be tweaked. There are small programs called plugins that are like apps on your phone. They extend the functionality of your website so that you can add an online shop, or a lead magnet, or even a list of your podcast recording without needing a whole new website.
I'm not sure what I need
Sign up for the check list and work your way through it. It's very simple to do with yes, no and would like available for every question it asks. If you have a lot of no's or would likes then it may be time for a new website.
If you have completely changed your business and your branding it is likely that you'll need a new website. You may not even be able to use your existing content if everything has changed.
Your Website Needs to Reflect Your Business
Speaking as a customer, when I get excited by something I see on socials and go to a website, it's very weird if that website has NOTHING to do with what I just saw n their socials. It's disappointing, annoying and feels untrustworthy. I tend to leave and I don't return.
